REGISTER AN ACCOUNT

Welcome to the new BOLTON HILL BULLETIN BOARD!
The following will lead you through the registration process.

In order to post a new message or reply, you must first LOGIN. Before you login, you must REGISTER.

If you already have the board page open, click on the REGISTER button at the top right of the main page. You will be taken to this page.

CLICK HERE to open the REGISTER AN ACCOUNT page.

Fill in your user name and your email. When you click the SUBMIT button, you will see the next screen (below).

When you see this screen, open your email program. An email will have been sent to the address you supplied.

The email will contain your new password.

Click on the link provided in the email - or - Copy the password and return to the LOGIN screen. Fill in your user name and the supplied password, then click SUBMIT.

When you log in for the first time, click on ACCOUNT to change your password. There are several important things to take care of in this step.

This will take you to the ACCOUNT SETINGS menu

Click on CHANGE PASSWORD.Enter the password supplied and enter your new password.

Please save this in a secure place.

When finished, click on ACCOUNT to return to the ACCOUNT MENU.

Click on ACCOUNT OPTIONS.

Please do not skip this step. It will only take a few seconds.

The first option is SHOW EMAIL. You do not have to do anything here. We have set up the Bulletin Board to automatically show all member emails and IP addresses. This has shown to curb board abuse in the past, and we hope it will in the future.

The second option is TIME OFFSET.

Enter 3 (numeral three)

The server that provides the database for the bulletin board is set to Mountain Time. To make everybody's messages show the correct time posted, we have to offset the server time by 3 hours.

The third option is DISPLAY NAME This is what other readers of the board will see with your posts.

You can enter your user name or another name. Please remember that everyone will know who you are since the email will be shown.

Rude or offensive names will be blocked from posting

The fourth option is PRE-FILL SUBJECT LINE. If you check YES on this, any replies you post will automatically have the subject line filled .

Replies then appear in the same manner as our old Bulletin Board, as in the following:
"When is the Festival on the Hill"
- "RE: When is the Festival on the Hill"

Checking NO gives the option of replying with the answer in the title, as in the following:
"When is the Festival on the Hill"
- "This Saturday"

The last option is Email NOTIFY.

The new board software allows members to send email directly to other members. This is the bMail link on the top right of the page. These emails will not be posted to the board as new messages or replies. Non-members viewing the board will not be able to use the email. You can only read these emails by logging into the forum.

Click YES on this option to have an email sent to notify you that you have an email on the forum
